Christmas Open House

Come celebrate the Holiday Season at the Trethewey House Christmas Open House! View the historic house decorated with 1920s Christmas flair, enjoy some light refreshments, and get into the spirit of the season with some old-fashioned style and generosity – bring a donation (a non-perishable food item or cash donation) for the Food Bank in lieu of an entry fee!

Morris & Co. Wallpaper Painting Workshop

Do you love Trethewey House and turn-of-the-century Craftsman style? Now you can recreate a piece of Arts & Crafts to take home with you with our Morris & Co. paint-your-own wallpaper workshop! Come and learn more about the Craftsman design movement and create your own work of art to admire at the same time. This workshop is recommended for teens and adults and is designed to complement our Craft of Craftsman architectural tour of Trethewey House. The event runs from 5:30-7:30 pm on September 28th and tickets include materials and refreshments.

Agents of Discovery Wins Heritage BC Award with Trethewey House Heritage Site
Prestigious Award Won in the Category of Heritage Education and Awareness



Abbotsford, BC, March 20, 2018: Agents of Discovery, in partnership with Heritage Abbotsford Society, has won a Heritage BC Recognition Award in the category of Heritage Education and Awareness. The Heritage BC Award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding, impressive, and significant achievements in heritage conservation among individuals, organizations, groups, businesses, and government in communities across B.C.

Heritage Abbotsford Society operates Trethewey House Heritage Site through a fee-for-service with the City of Abbotsford. As part of its operations, the Society has implemented Agents of Discovery, a platform and mobile game that gets kids active and learning about the world around them.

“We are motivated by bringing innovative education to communities and we are thrilled to have won this year’s Heritage BC Award with Trethewey House Heritage Site,” said Mary Clark, CEO of Agents of Discovery. “Trethewey House has done an absolutely fantastic job at using our platform to create compelling and exciting games for their visitors.”

Trethewey House Heritage Site uses Agents of Discovery as a fun and innovative way of engaging visitors with Abbotsford’s rich history.

“We have seen a tremendous boost in engagement from our visitors after implementing Agents of Discovery,” said Christina Reid, Executive Director of Trethewey House. “We were so thrilled to have received this award and be recognized for the effort and passion we put into educating our community with Abbotsford’s history.”

The presentation of awards will take place at the annual conference in New Westminster on May 11, 2018.

The Mission of the Society is to be the memory of the community by preserving and interpreting its history. Happy Holidays from the Staff and Board of Directors of Heritage Abbotsford Society!

Trethewey House Heritage Site will be closed for the holidays from December 23rd until January 7th. We will re-open to regular operating hours on January 8th.
